Personal Statement:
New health care technology contributes significantly to rising health care costs. It is important that new technology is shown to be safe, effective, and leads to improved clinical outcomes compared to existing technology. The CTAF process looks at new technology using rigorous scientific methods, which, if its criteria are met, provide a level of confidence beyond FDA approval and anecdotal acceptance.

A retired cardiovascular surgeon, Dr. Ullyot serves in a publicly elected position on the Peninsula District Health Care District Board. He is a reviewer for several medical and surgical journals, and consults on health policy and clinical quality issues.
